Moxabustion
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy using moxa, or mugwort herb. During treatment, the practitioner lights one end of a moxa stick and holds it close to the skin at the area being treated. The burning moxa is held there for several minutes until the area turns red. Another form of moxibustion uses both acupuncture needles and moxa. With this form of moxibustion, the needles are inserted into an acupoint and then the tip of the needle wrapped in moxa and ignited, generating heat to the point and the surrounding area.

Cupping
Cupping is a method of applying acupressure by creating a vacuum on the patient's skin. This is done by heating glass cups with an open flame and then placing them on the patient's skin. Once heated, the hot air in the cups has a low density. As the cups cool with the opening sealed by the skin, the pressure within the cups declines, causing the skin and superficial muscle layer to be drawn into and held in the cup.
